Commodity-neutral claims approach

Claims & Cargo

Insurance and transportation events can involve virtually any commodity. We want to see the opportunity first, then evaluate value, condition, authority, restrictions, geography and logistics.

Insurance Salvage

Commercial inventory, materials, equipment, machinery and other property involved in casualty or property losses.

Rejected & Refused Freight

Loads rejected by consignees, canceled destinations, packaging disputes, delayed deliveries and other time-sensitive shipment problems.

Damaged Freight

Transportation damage, shifted loads, impact events, water intrusion, packaging damage and claim-related goods.

Truck, Rail & Intermodal

Commercial freight arising from highway incidents, rail events, intermodal transfers, terminals and stranded shipments.

Marine, Port & Container

Containerized cargo, breakbulk, marine claims, terminal issues and legally saleable cargo affected by port or ocean-shipping events.

Warehouse & Temperature Events

Cold-storage issues, temperature excursions, warehouse losses and other events affecting condition or destination.

What to send immediately

  • Commodity and product description
  • Quantity and packaging
  • Exact current location
  • Photos, survey or condition information
  • Reason the freight or property needs disposition
  • Claim, shipment or container reference if applicable
  • Who currently owns or controls the property
  • Time remaining before storage, detention or other costs increase

Authority and restrictions

Claims, customs, bonded goods, liens, insurer/insured interests, carrier rights, food safety, hazardous materials and other regulated circumstances can affect whether property can be transferred. The controlling party must establish appropriate authority before a transaction can close.

Do not discard a potentially valuable load simply because it is unusual. Send it for commercial review first.
